Monday Morning New & Notes
Tennis: With a dramatic three-set victory by Justin
Kronauge, the Ohio State men’s tennis
team defeated Illinois to advance to the NCAA
Quarterfinals. This was the third time this season
the Buckeyes defeated the Illini. It does not
sound like the Buckeyes played their best tennis,
but they still prevailed.
Unfortunately, Ohio State’s run came to an end
yesterday as they lost to No. 7 Texas, 4-2, in
Tulsa. This was the Buckeyes fourth quarterfinal
loss in the last five years. Despite this defeat,
Ohio State athletics has enjoyed a great season
and all of the teams should be congratulated.
Without sounding too cheesy, it is super easy to
overlook all of the other varsity squads on
campus. With that said, ….
Men’s Golf: The men’s
golf team wrapped up its season this past
weekend by tying for 16th at the 2008 NCAA Central
Regional, which was being held at the par 71,
7,419-yard Scarlet Course in Columbus. Ohio State
shot a cumulative 309 (+25) in the final round and
finished the 54-hole event 10 strokes outside the
Top 10, which advanced to the NCAA championships.
Illinois, Indiana, and Penn State each advanced to
the NCAA finals.
Lacrosse: Finally, the men's
lacrosse team scored the first goal against No. 1
Duke, but then gave up 10 straight to the Blue
Devils. Ultimately, the Buckeyes lost 21-10. Still,
that coast to coast goal was worth
it.
