ESPN Challenges Army

Fans of the annual Army High School All-American football game will now have a choice. Starting next year, ESPN is launching their own all-star game that will be held on the same day. It will be televised by ABC creating a competition for viewers and recruits which will most likely result in teams stocked with players of a slightly lesser quality. This will be of little consequence for recruitniks who'll gladly inhale the additional game and opportunity to watch recruits on their TV rather than some grainy YouTube clip.

You know what, we’ve got a good product and this is the most opportune time of the year to put on a game. If there’s another game out there on the same day, we’re not looking to knock heads with anybody, but this is the best time for us to do what we’ve got to do. Let’s just go ahead and do it. - ESPN recruiting coordinator Craig Haubert

Sure. More importantly, who's surprised? ESPN is slowly but methodically dipping their hand in anything remotely sports related. Spelling bee's, poker, darts and now high school all-star games. Few things are off limits other than finding on-air talent that can get through a telecast without saying "Booyah" or some other such nonsense. Naturally, Mr. BuckNuts loves the idea of making Tom Lemming sweat.
