Baseball Bucks in NCAA. Director Cup Rankings Rising

In between your parades and backyard grilling, the Ohio State men's baseball team was busy reviving their season. The Buckeyes earned a trip to the NCAA's by winning by the Big Ten Tournament Championship. They did so by dispatching favorite Minnesota 4-2 behind the pitching of Cory Luebke. The victory marked Coach Bob Todd's 800th career win which is not bad for a guy who is seemingly on the hot-seat. Ohio State plays again as a #3 seed against #2 Louisiana-Lafayette at 2 p.m. ET Friday in the NCAA College Station, Texas Regional.

Director Cup Top 10
If it seems like Ohio State athletics wins a lot these days, you'd be correct. Certainly other teams have had our number (*cough*Florida*cough*), but few have had the overall success we've enjoyed. The Directors Cup is a system that ranks teams based on cumulative achievement in both men's and women's sports. (This is not to be confused with the Fulmer Cup which ranks teams based on the number of brushes with the law.) Currently, the Buckeyes find themselves ranked 8th overall in the Directors Cup. This ranking is as of early May and does not yet include our points for Baseball, Softball, Men's Tennis and Men's Rowing. The added points could jump us ahead of Florida (a small consolation) and fellow Big Ten brethren, Minnesota (no consolation, we don't care really).
