Welcome to the new and improved Buckeye Commentary. As usual, I’m your host. I’m your basic blogger: I think I’m always right, I often look down on opponent’s opinions, and I have no fundamental connection to the sport I write about. However, I do love the Buckeyes in a way that is not healthy: switching television providers to one with the the Big Ten Network (and NFL Sunday Ticket), requiring my wife to fend for herself every Saturday in the fall while I watch 14 hours of football, and writing a blog about team that plays only 13 times per year. It’s this passion that I’m allowed to indulge in a way most fans are not.

While I am the main source of pontifications, Buckeye Commentary has more than one author on board these days and, for the most part, we’re literate, hard-working and responsible folks. If you met us in a bar prior to midnight you would probably think we are decent guys (at least for the sort that find themselves in bars around midnight). We do not swear around children. We show up on time and leave when we are required. And, we always write Thank You notes.

As many of you know, Buckeye Commentary was originally launched on April 17, 2005 and was among the first Ohio State blogs. Other blogs try to be funny, we try to offer unique analysis. Sometimes we succeed and when we do, we’ve been featured and referred by mainstream media such as ESPN, USAToday, SI.com and CSTV.

I have tried to create a new version of Buckeye Commentary that is more open and inviting but that retains the unique aspects of the site. The goal has always been to give the endless conversation surrounding Ohio State football a nice place to hang out from time to time. Think of Buckeye Commentary as a caretaker of the all of the weekly smack talk, self-serving excuse making, and endless hypothetical debates that makes college football so great. We want you to contribute frequently to the back and forth with comments that reflect the tone of the posts and your feelings on the topic. And, now we give you more space with the new forums and enhanced commenting system.
