So there’s this game going on tonight
My history major brain is telling me that no Civil War battle ever took place in Oregon. But, if this were 140 years ago we might be getting pretty close. Oregon and Oregon State are currently locked in their annual Civil War. I can’t imagine what those who are devout American-ites would be saying about the rivalry if it was as huge as, say…The Game. But, I digress. Oregon hasn’t been to the Rose Bowl since 1995 and Oregon State hasn’t been there since 1964. No matter who wins, our Buckeyes will be facing two teams who love to run the football and take it up and down the field. Unfortunately for them, the Pac-10 has this nasty habit of not playing defense very well (part of the reason why USC has dominated the past decade). Who would you rather see in Pasadena on January 1? I was rooting for Arizona, but since that’s out of the question, I’ll go with Oregon State for a number of reasons.

I would have preferred OSU, too. But, we'll have to deal with the Ducks. Slant passing offenses have always been a problem for the Buckeye defense. Masoli's mobility will be problematic, too. OSU's defense will prepare, then adjust at halftime….and our offense should be ready to push the Ducks up and down the field. OSU 34-23.
Will osu be pushing Oregon up and down the field with the same offense that mustered 15 points at home against USC? Oregon's team speed on defense will negate Pryor's playmaking ability with his feet, thus forcing him to win with his passing. Good luck.oregon's defense is the least of osu's problems. Masoli and co. cannot be stopped. Chip Kelly has 4 weeks to gameplan for one opponent, AND, he now has Blount as an option. Oregon 44-27.
You're smart for not wanting to face Oregon. The Ducks offense is unstoppable right now. You were probably wondering whether or not we have a punter. We do. He even travels with the team on the road…mostly for moral support. Big 10 = big, slow and boring. I can't believe they still give you an automatic bid. The Mountain West is far better. I see another UNDEFEATED bowl season for the PAC 10.
An undefeated PAC 10 bowl season is out now, Thanks Beavs. Way to crumble under pressure.
I think this matchup will be AWESOME. Any Duck fan who’s intentions are other than ‘trolling’ will agree that we respect the tOSU Defense. Hopefully you condition, condition, condition over the month off to prepare for a no-huddle, zone-read, spread-option assault. Our D is undersized to you, but over-turbo charged. And Masoli runs the ’slight-of-hand’ plays better than anyone save for good ole Dennis Dixon.
LaMike will not even be seen by your CB’s and Safeties until he is squirrel’ing his way upfield 40 yards.
and then, just when the tOSU D conpensates, …BAM, LaGarrette Blount for a hurdle, and a bulldoze into the endzone. It should be an awesome rose bowl to watch. But i think the straw that breaks the buckeye’s back will be the depth of talent the Ducks have across the board. We are NOT underestimating you, and Nor is the conniving Chip Kelly.
Cheers Sweatervests, Here’s to a good matchup!
docduck - hope you got your crystal ball fixed. Pac-10 is 2-5 in bowls and the "unstoppable" Duck's offense didn't show up. Duckeye was about accurate. You guys sure you're following the right Oregon team? Better luck next year.
Looking back on all this, you Ducks fans are precious. 0-8 against Ohio State. How does it feel, boys?
