Navy Ohio St Football

The Good

  • Pryor can throw the ball.  He was 14/21 (66%) for 174 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.  At least one pass that I can remember was dropped (Taurian Washington, I’m looking at you).  And the interception was on a tipped ball, although it was a bad throw.
  • The defensive line escaped the game with no injuries.  While some may argue that this is the deepest unit on the Buckeyes, no one likes to see starters going down before a big game and this is quite the accomplishment considering that Navy’s O-Line are big, big fans of the cut block.

The Bad

  • The offensive line.  Pryor was under way too much pressure from an undersized Navy D-Line, and the inability to get two yards on three consecutive running plays in the fourth quarter is unacceptable.  It is my belief that they were the reason Navy was able to make a game out of it.
  • Third down.  Pryor and the Buckeyes were 3/12 on third downs.  Against USC’s defense next week, that stat may be 0/12.

The Ugly

  • The fact that a 2 pt. conversion stop was needed to preserve the lead.  While its good to have some pressure situation experience before going into next week’s game, this is not the kind of pressure I had in mind.
  • I’ve said this once already but it bears repeating: the offensive line play.  Blech, just…blech.

Well, that’s enough of that, its officially USC week.

Is there is a more over rated team in America than Ohio State?

They very nearly lose to Navy, at home, and they only drop two spots in the AP Poll. Are you serious?????

I'm sick and tired of the mediocre Buckeyes and the even more mediocre Big Ten getting all that love from the media and the pollsters.

Top Ten team? They shouldn't even be in the Top 25!!!

Hopefully after they get blasted by USC this week, people will finally wake up and label them the fraud they've been for the last 3 or 4 years.

Come on folks, wake up. Ohio State used to be a decent program but Woody Hayes ain't coming back any time soon!!!

Did Woody Hayes coach the 2002 National Title team for the buckeyes? Have we struggled in some big time games the last few years? Yes we have no smart fan would say otherwise but I think its foolish to say the bucks aren't a top 25 team. I mean is USC overrated because they lose one game a year to teams like Stanford? I don't think so but I guess you forget about those type of losses huh?

Honey if you are so sick of the Buckeyes why are you even on this site commenting? It is not as if anyone takes you seriously. Be gone before somebody drops a buckeye on you!

I listen to the conversation if USC throttles Ohio State again. What will you do if OSU beats USC? My guess is that your tune won't change. Probably a Michigan fan or, dare I say it, Miami fan.

Good game? I knew Ohio State fans were delusional. Now you've proven it. Make you a deal, if Ohio State loses by less than 20 points, I'll be back to post my heartfelt apology.

    • Cassius_BC says:

Delusional? We're fans, we always think our team is going to win. Even when our team is the biggest underdog in the world we'll still come onto the boards and tell everyone why Ohio State is going to win. Its the same for every fan, if you found one college football fan who didn't think their team was going to win their bowl game last year, I'd say you've found someone who is delusional.

I never understand why fans of teams from outside the B10 hate Ohio State so much. If they really are overrated then why bitch and moan about it? They'll lose one or two games and get embarrassed in a bowl game again, if you really hated them that much that'd be exactly what you would hope for. I'd think your time would be better spent commenting on a friendly site about your own team. Or providing your own take on the game last week or this week.

That being said, I think Ohio State can win, I think Ohio State will win, and regardless of the outcome I will be there in section 36A cheering them on until the final whistle and I'll still stick around to sing Carmen Ohio afterwards.

The only thing more pathetic than a blowout by USC is someone who trolls a fan site of a team he doesn't like just to post negative comments. I believe the definition is Internet Troll.

I am less concerend about insignificant shut-ins like "osusucks", (very original name by the way), and more concerned about the insanity of our coach switching quarterbacks every 7 seconds. It really feels like I am watching John Cooper again!! If we loose because our boys play their hearts out and just can't pull it out…okay. But if we CONTINUE to loose because of quarterback switching and the complete refusal to learn to cover the spread offense,…then I have no problem firing the sweater vest.

The Ohio State Buckeye's are not the most over rated team in college football. I am not one who will point fingers at any other team either. Jim Tressel has developed a great program and will continue to do so. He is a winner and I can't tell you how many games I have watched in the past where the Buckeyes could have run the score up, but Tressel just isn't that type of coach. He is a conservative coach. Ontop of that, the more points, the better ratings. Well with Tressel that the helm, you will never see that. They may not deserve the ranking that they get, but for anyone to say they do not deserve to be in the top 25, have another shot or two of jagermeister.

  7. Greg1213 says:

That loss was 100% no 1000% Tressel's fault. He has never and will never be an offensive coordinator. He turns world class atheletes into so so players. He lets every team hang around one score from a win. He can recruit, but so could Cooper. Be prepared for 9 or 10 win seasons. Please don't blame the defense. Tressel left them on the field the hole second half.
